What is it?The aim of the "One Name Study of the Cairns Family Surname" is to try and link as many of the Cairns families as possible from the Old Parish Records of Scotland and if it can be done to find links with families in England, Wales & Ireland and to those families with "Scottish Roots" who found their way to distant lands... I already have quite a large database covering the UK and Ireland and have most of the Cairns and name variants from about 1875 back to quite early times. It is my hope that when I have established enough links to display these lines on this website. If you would like to assist in this project you can do so, providing your Cairns research has a Scottish origin and can be linked back before 1855 when the Statutory Registration began in Scotland. Please send me a copy of your Cairns family tree in GEDCOM format. Please remember you need to show a clear link to Scotland with Names, Events, Dates, Place Names and Relationships. Without this information I cannot establish a link. Please Note: It is not sufficient to simply say "Born in Scotland" What it is not!I do not carry out any research on behalf of others, but will where I am able, provide answers to certain queries from my resources at home. I have details of a number of Cairns Researchers but do not have their permission to display their personal details here. However should I receive information to show a link with another researcher's work I will endeavour to make both parties aware of the connection. |
