| PLEASE READ THIS.... Before you submit a genealogy query... If you have any queries or questions about the CAIRNS family I will do my very best to TRY and answer them. I wish to state that I am NOT an EXPERT on the subject of the Cairns family but I do have access to a lot of information. As a direct result of the growing number of email enquiries I am now receiving. I decided it was time to set up this web site in an effort to divert those researchers who have no known links with the UK & Ireland to other resources and to concentrate my time to helping those with known links to the UK & Ireland and especially those with Scottish Root's... It's always good to hear from someone researching the Cairns family name but I have no experience of researching the CAIRNS family in Australia, N.Z., South Africa, Canada or U.S.A. If however your family came from Scotland and you can provide detail's. i.e. NAMES, DATES, EVENTS and PARISH or PLACE NAMES in Scotland before 1875. Then please send me all the details you have from that period. I will be happy to check it against the information I have on file and try to answer any queries that you may have. Please be aware. I do not carry out research on behalf of others and make no request for payment for any information I provide. If you wish, I would be happy to receive a copy of your CAIRNS line to assist with my "One Name Study" of the family name. If possible, can you please send it in a Gedcom format. Junk Mail... Many of the queries I receive are one's I simply cannot provide any help with.... For example: My Name is John Cairns the IV my great, great grand pappy was George Cairns XX and he came to the USA from Scotland or maybe Ireland. Can you help. I am sorry to have to say with this kind of query the answer is: NO! Here is another example: The sender did not give me her correct email address and only signed her message with her first name Jane. Each time I try to send a message the mail bounces back from the mail server. So if your name is Jane and you sent me an Email and have not had a reply. Please get in touch again as I have some information for you. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IS CORRECT. Getting it right... If however you structured your query like the one below I may still say NO but at least I will have something to work with and there is a good chance that the reply will be, YES I can help. Good Example: ( But not a real one !) My Name is John Cairns, I am looking for information about the descendants of George Cairns a Ploughman who was born abt. 1700 in Tranent, Scotland. He was the oldest son of Andrew Cairnes and Sarah Bignose. He married Mary Bigshot in 1725. They had four sons and three daughters. George and Mary Bigshot are thought to have moved from the Tranent area to North Carolina abt. 1810. George's brothers & sisters are thought to have remained in Scotland and I am trying to find out what happened to them. Also researching the Bignose and Bigshot families. The key to a successful query is:
Acknowledgement: Genealogy has been part of my life for a great many years. I owe much of the success of my research to the help I have received from a very special friend Yvonne ( Bonnie ) Bean. Any information you might gain from using this web page would not have been possible without Bonnie's help. I hope your visit to my web site encourages you to establish your Root's Archie Cairns |
